whoever didnt make it lost out big time...... try make a plan next year as the event will only get bigger and better...... heres how the weekend went and a little of what happened from our side.....

Friday - documentation and scruteneering

As per a couple emails we received from the organisers, we had slotted times of when and what we had to do... We milled around checking out the cars and so on, insane stuff and the guys dont play games.... hahaha.... i guess thats what happens when you try hang with the big dogs.. 13 skyline GTR's were entered!!!!!! insane....

At 1pm it was time for a street parade... well thats at least what they told us at the time... We pulled out the parking (waterfront) five at a time and basically did a "fast lap" around town.... it felt like the old rally videos you see with the people in the streets taking photos while all the drivers decided that flat out was the desired speed limit.... If anything i would remember that the most as if done on any other day, would have been the most illegal thing i have ever done in a car..... hahahahah.....

Saturday - Qualifying

So we got to the pits early, car cleaned and new wheels on (YEAH!!!!!!)... our stand was amongst the other mad skylines but i recon we represented well... the Nixon guys were all out in full force wearing knysna hill climb branded clothing..... i think between Jacks crew and ours we had the entire pit lane covered with it and many people asking what where and why....

As for the driving.... we had car issues initially which found our times getting worse and worse... not to make excuses but first time in the car and with the wheels.. i think i was so worried about scratching them i must have took it easy........hahahahah.... anyway.... we managed to get a time of 51.6 which is quicker than we were last year so at least we knew we were improving... Jack also uped his game and managed to find two seconds going 56.742......awesome.... Weather also played the game and was clear all day... As for the big boys, they were running times in the 43 second mark... i guess thats what 900hp can do... hahahah i think between jack and i we had like 600hp.... hahahahaha...

Overall the day was cool and we had fun for sure....lots of action as well as alot of accidents seeing, and audi r8 smash, ariel atom roll......and a 35 GTR go off the mountain.... the guys were trying that hard to get the times down this year and i guess being on the limit like that.... you can have issues.... sorry to the guys that did have.....

Sunday - Qualifying and Finals

Drivers briefing started at 8.30am and first qualifying at 9am sharp.... For us it was about trying to improve on saturdays times.. We did a bit of set up on the car and decided to run standard management... We had issues running another computer box or at least thought we did, so decided to swop it out for what we were use to.... Weather again was perfect and we had no excuses... Our second run saw us going 50.6 seconds which was awesome.... we managed to find a second and on this short course its a life time... Next year our plan is to run 46 or 47 seconds... we'll be off the pace maybe but with those kinds of times we should have a hell of alot of fun...... Jack also went down into real low 56's getting him 2nd in his naturally aspirated 6 cylinder class.... well done guy....

As for Final Results..... We managed a 30th overall for the weekend and 8th in class which giving it was the most competitive and happen to have the overall winner in it... we cant complain..... Jack went 2nd in his class and an awesome 55th overall.......

Would just like to say once again, thanks to the nixon and rocketfuel guys for all the support again this year, and we hope to be back next year with more power and more experience..... Was an awesome weekend..... hoping we can have tons more like it.....
