Been working and measuring to make sure that the hats or bells as AP call's it are what we need strength and aesthetics wise... Just measured up the typical which are the hubs back and front aswell as the offset of the original caliper brackets...
Gone to a little more trouble though.. took into consideration the wheels to be used (TE37) and there centre hub diameter, and offset the champher cut back 4mm radius outwards... the idea is simple.. looks crap when the bell is alot bigger then the centre section of the rim...
We also took into consideration the brackets for the calipers... As to not create a big difference between the look of the front and rear, we will offset the caliper more outwards on the rear to in theory run the same offset as the front... "so they in line with each other".... The rears run a handbrake which means it has a lot more depth.. this way if we offset it more we get the angle or champher we need...
Taking the rear handbrake out as we not going to need it, and running aluminium bells now, we would have to run an internal steel sleeve to allow the handbrake to work.... aint doing that..... plus i guess we save the weight ..............hahahahahah
Waiting on material now ... 6061 alley from joburg... PE doesnt stock the 230mm diameter, so now we wait until the end of next week... In the meantime i'll get going with measuring up the new brake lines which we are going to need.. taking the hard lines out and replacing with the braided lines with the clear sleeve... will look awesome as well....
Still thinking of what colour to anodise the bells.... red comes to mind but i will probably just go with black... not trying to bling the car too much, but would be nice to have the brakes stand out a bit..... every bit counts i guess...
anyway.... thats the update for now....
